Gordon Historical Renovation

Elizabeth Street Atlanta, GA

The Gordon house was built in 1920 and is approximately 5,400 square feet.

DB Atlanta was commissioned to do the historical renovations of this beautiful historic home.

This historical renovation was to gut and renovate three bathrooms. We did the master bathroom with custom his and her cabinets, custom marble, new porcelain sink, new bathroom fixtures and bathroom accessories. We renovated the primary closet to create a custom master walk in closet space. We renovated the second bathroom which had to be gutted, and years of old flooring had to be removed, and the floor had to be leveled to lay the new wet room tile flooring and put back the old cast iron claw foot tub. We renovated the 3rd bathroom with a new shower with glass enclosure, custom cabinets, new porcelain sink, fixtures, new tile flooring, lighting, and new bathroom accessories. We had to extend the inside wall for the laundry room area and had to tie in a new joist and framing in the solarium roof area. We added new windows to the solarium area, insulation, drywall and plaster, paint, and flooring to match the rest of the home.

An extensive renovation and restoration effort was needed to restore this historic home. We had to demo old wood and add various parts of the ceiling areas, flooring areas to level the floor and add joists to extend the roof line and additional framing to pass structural framing inspections. We had to demo flooring in the breakfast nook area to replace old cast iron pipes to install new plumbing pipes for the bathrooms. Flooring was replaced, sanded and stained to match the rest of the home. Extensive custom plastering was added to the renovated areas of the historic home by our Master Plaster Crew.

We framed out the attic area for storage and added a new HVAC system in the attic, new electrical wiring, lighting, sheetrock, flooring, trim and installed a new red oak spiral staircase leading to the attic. We installed insulation in different areas of the home that we renovated and installed trim and shoe mold in the renovated areas. We renovated the front porch and had to tear out rotten wood and add new posts, add new glass door with fixed side panels and a transom on the top. We primed and painted the front porch, giving it a refreshed appearance. We added to the porch area two White Bromic 6,000W Electric Heaters with Recess Kits and Master Remote.

Db Atlanta is proud of our strategic partnerships with the artisans and craftsmen that help bring back the natural beauty of the timeless appeal of this historical home.
